 Military Family Support Group

Our office was recently contacted by Tammy, from Morton's Gap, concerning a support group for military families here in our area. At this time, our Red Cross office is not aware of such a group. If you or someone you know would be interested in joining a military support group, contact our office at (270)821-6784 or email Brenda Parker @ parkerb@mid-westkentucky.redcross.org

We are here to help you:

* Stay in touch with loved ones. Our Red Cross worldwide communications network operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We can help you or your family send emergency messages regarding the death or serious illness of a family member, the birth of a child, or other family emergencies.
*
Get verification of emergency leave information. We can provide you and the military member's commander with fast, reliable information to help make decisions regarding emergency leaves, deferments, compassionate reassignments, and dependency discharges. Remember, the military member's commander makes the final dicision regarding these issues.
*
Secure emergency financial assistance. The Red Cross collaborates with the military aid societies in providing financial assistance when an urgent personal or family crisis arises - that is, when the military member might need fininacial assistance for emergency travel, burial of a loved one, or urgent health and welfare needs such as food and shelter.
*
With disaster assistance, health and safety and HIV/AIDS education, and volunteer opportunities. The Mid-West Kentucky Chapter of the American Red Cross provides assistance in times of disaster as well as offers you and your family health and safety training and volunteer opportunities.
